Sisk was proud to be a main sponsor of Construction Industry Federation’s (CIF) annual Construction Safety Campaign from October 13th to 24th, encouraging members and the wider industry to focus on the theme ‘Back to Basics’, a reminder to take a step back, review safety management systems, and re-engage teams in meaningful safety conversations.
Many of our project teams took part in the campaign, including our Intel project, where the focus was on safe lifting practices. The team hosted both a presentation and a live demonstration in collaboration with Mercury and O’Brien Crane Hire, covering key safety aspects such as 360 teleporter set-ups, pedestrian routes and spotter positioning, load stability, defective equipment awareness, QR code safety systems, operator cab experience, and exclusion zones for lifting activities.
At our Astellas Life Sciences project in Kerry, the site team marked Safety Week with a town hall session on live energies, along with a mental health talk delivered by David Hamill, Mental Health Lead, Ireland, Sisk. Our team at Glass Bottle in Dublin also hosted briefings with supply chain partners. Safety topics included, critical risks and falls from heights. This year’s message ‘Back to Basics’ may sound simple, but CIF uses it to highlight the critical importance of consistently reinforcing the fundamentals that keep everyone safe.
We are also proud to share that we have recently been recognised by the National Irish Safety Organisation and the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISO/NISG) for maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety across our projects.
At the awards ceremony on October 10th in Killarney, our H&S team was presented with the Excellence in Safety Award, which recognises organisations that have achieved a consistently high standard of safety for more than 15 years. This award reflects our unwavering commitment to health and safety across all aspects of our work.
In addition, we were honoured to receive a Higher Distinction Award in recognition of this year’s safety submission.
