Sisk has topped out Block S&T, at Greystar’s landmark site Pearl Yard Bermondsey, marking a major milestone in the delivery of one of London’s most significant new residential developments.

Located on the site of the  former Peek Freans biscuit factory, Block S&T will include 472 apartments spread across two high-rise residential blocks, along with spa and swimming amenities. Once complete, it will deliver over 500,000 square feet of new living space.

These blocks form part of the wider Pearl Yard Bermondsey masterplan, formerly known as The Bermondsey Project, a transformative development that will provide circa 1,600 new homes. The scheme has been transformed from a long-dormant former factory site in just three years, with Sisk working alongside two other contractors, making it one of the largest brownfield regeneration projects currently under way in London.

Sisk were appointed to deliver the Block S&T project in October 2024, with it uniquely located parallel to a key commuter railway line into London Bridge Station. Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and offsite manufacturing have played a central role on this project. To date, Sisk has installed more than 1,742 pre-cast panels, 472 Prefabricated Utility Cupboards (PUCs) and 708-bathroom pods at Block S&T.

The milestone comes as Sisk continues to strengthen its UK business. The company has appointed Ger Hayes as Managing Director of Sisk Construction UK, the business unit responsible for the company’s construction activity across the UK. Hayes was previously Managing Director of the Sisk’s southern business unit. The appointment follows the integration of Sisk UK North and UK South, into a single business unit focused on commercial, healthcare and residential sectors.

Steven McGee, COO, UK & Ireland, Sisk said: “Well done to our site team and client Greystar on achieving this important project milestone. Sisk is building a growing reputation with blue-chip clients, creating further opportunity for us across the UK.

“To support this growth, we have appointed Ger Hayes as Managing Director of Sisk Construction UK and integrated our building teams from UK North and UK South into one national business unit. This structure mirrors those of our target blue-chip clients, facilitating better integration across the UK.”
