Sisk has been announced as main contractor to complete the refurbishment and extension of 171 Victoria Street at the site of the old John Lewis HQ for Kirkglade Ltd. The Westminster project designed by TP Bennett is being managed by Savills and Core Five and will deliver over 200,000 sq. ft of Grade A workspace.
The project is fully aligned with Westminster’s retrofit first strategy and will create commercial office space that is a highly flexible for tenants, whilst retaining the existing ground floor retail offer. Designed with a sustainability first approach, the building is being carefully deconstructed to reuse and recycle not least the all the steelwork, concrete and 500 stainless steel window frames and the glazed units.
The new and upgraded trapezoidal facade will also feature low carbon Orae glass and the world’s first Environmental Protection Declarations (EPD) low carbon glass. This will offer a 40 percent reduction in carbon impact compared to standard glass, while maintaining the highest aesthetic and technical performance standards.
This commitment to sustainability has also seen Sisk and Kirkglade Ltd. proactively collaborating together with London Structures Lab to adopt the innovative Ecocem-ACT low carbon concrete throughout the redevelopment works, championing yet another Industry and Commercial sector first.
The project is due to be complete at the end of Q4 2027.
Ger Hayes, MD, Sisk Construction UK said: “We’re very excited to begin 171 Victoria Street, our latest commercial project in the heart of central London. Together, with our client, Kirkglade Ltd. we are both embedding a comprehensive and enhanced ESG strategy with innovative low carbon concrete a key differentiator here and delivering a fantastic new Commercial Office.
