The Malmo project consisted of one stand-alone 15MW shell, single storey data centre building with an initial fit out of the first 7.5MW IT capacity. An administration block was also delivered for operational space, facilities operations centre (FOC), secure storage, security operations centre (SOC) and facilities required for fully operational data centres.
It is a portal steel framed structure on reinforced concrete (RC) pad foundations. It is clad with metal skinned insulated structural cladding panels with a built-up roofing system. Internal walls are white walls throughout the data halls and electrical room space.
Sustainability
From an energy, environmental and sustainability point of view, this project was aiming for LEED Gold, and there are certain requirements that need to be met to achieve these credits. We also outlined company targets and in many cases exceeded what is necessary to achieve the LEED credit.
Waste management
We encouraged that waste was segregated, and that diversion from landfill is to be targeted at all times. However only 75 percent diversion from landfill is needed to achieve two LEED credits, we achieved 95 percent diversion from landfill.
