Hangar delivery in Birmingham International Airport

Monarch Hangar, Birmingham Airport

Building on our previous successful hangar delivery at Birmingham Airport, we subsequently completed a design and build contract to provide Monarch Airlines with their new 110,000 ft2 hangar.

Client Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited
Duration26 weeks
Value£10 million

This vast hangar is regionally unique and capable of housing two of the worlds’ largest jumbo jets side by side. Innovative design allows for multiple aircraft combinations with a clear span of 136m by 80m up to 20m high. A 4.2m deep 80T central truss supports the double portal roof.

The innovative design not only met the client programme to be operational within a year but has also provided a facility with the flexibility to accommodate wide-body aircrafts such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350. This provides MAEL with a facility to market across the globe, bringing airlines to Birmingham who may not otherwise consider the site.

These works are part of Monarch’s drive to further enhance their offering within the UK.
