The facility constructed over three main floors contained production suites and production support areas, utility generation and plantrooms, laboratories, warehouse and cold chain storage areas. It is equipped with technology to produce sophisticated medicines, measuring more than 4,000 square meters and covering 11 hectares.

Sisk were appointed as construction management team to deliver the project, engaging with the client early in the project development to manage construction planning, reviews of the complex constructability, package procurement and site establishment. Sisk were responsible for the management of the project, including overseeing process and utility equipment installation through to Mechanical Completion (MC) and handover of the facility to the client commissioning team.

The project involved a number of complexities including working in a seismic zone, constructability of heavily congested service installations, working in live environments and adjusting to the requirements of a new jurisdiction with unfamiliar supply chain. Sisk employed a team which blended local knowledge and pharmaceutical experience to meet the challenges.

From a safety perspective there were over 38 different nationalities employed on the project over its duration and there was a concentrated focus on continuous engagement, training and coaching of all personnel to improve and maintain safety standards through the lifecycle of the project.  The milestone of 1 million hours worked without an LTI (Lost Time Injury) was reached in June of 2024, which was a significant achievement for the entire project and especially for the Sisk team.

There was approximately 650m of underground process drainage comprising of 4 different systems which crisscrossed their way across and through the foundations to drain into two different basement tanks at opposite ends of the building - this lead to a complex web of welded pipework that had to be installed to extremely strict tolerances below the ground floor slab.
