The original six storey building constructed in the 1980’s was typical of the time, comprising of two reinforced concrete cores supporting a steel frame.
Part of our bid winning strategy was to offer a range of achievable value engineering options which were adopted on the project. These included lightweight stone cladding and equipment alternatives. The envelope was partially retained and refurbished whilst new elements of curtain walling, briese soleil and stone cladding were applied to the additional storeys. The tight footprint necessitated positioning of a tower crane at original roof level on one of the original cores via a temporary cruciform support frame.
With a fit-out specified to meet a Category A standard, the rejuvenated building offers a modern and comfortable working environment, while meeting high sustainability targets and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards.
